The Chinese have a well-known ritual of burning precious items made of paper so their dead relatives can have a good afterlife.
We introduced a never before seen item into this tradition: paper lungs. It was emblazoned with a message that urged people to quit now and enjoy fresh air in this life, not the next.
The unconventional reminder showed smokers (and those around them) how precious healthy lungs are, and the importance of quitting for a better life.
